This Is Not A Cat!

I was lying in my room when I heard noise from downstairs
It sounded kinda like a meow, but I’m not sure if it’s there
As far as I’m aware, this house doesn’t have a cat
But if I head down to the kitchen, I guess I could change that
Well, in fact, it wasn’t an animal at all
It was rather rectangular and attached to the wall
This is not a cat!
It’s just a speaker by the door
This is not a cat!
Made of electronics galore, ah
I was going for a walk when I saw something move
It looked kinda grayish, so I guess I’d something to prove
Well, I don’t know how I didn’t learn, but I went to check
And I’m not sure how my brain could fail me again, but
There was no cat there, nothing feline by the tree
It was distinctly inanimate and as common as can be
This is not a cat!
It’s just a weirdly shaped rock
This is not a cat!
I don’t know how I thought it was a cat
Staring out the window
Hair in the breeze
These assumptions are going
To be the death of me
This might be a cat
Because it’s sitting on my lap
Playing with yarn and purring softly
I think this might be a cat

Polite Ms. Ketchup

Polite Ms. Ketchup leaves the grocery store
Works freelance doing home decor
Though her son is kind of insane
She lets those thoughts escape her brain
Petting her cats and laughing at memes
She’s everybody’s aunt, that’s how it seems
Doing crosswords, reading poetry
Watching Big Brother on the TV
Signed records by the Eagles and Dio decorate her room
She still spins them now and then to ward off the gloom
Polite Ms. Ketchup's busting out some wine
It’s been a few weeks, she’ll probably be fine
If you dealt with Mustard too
I know the same would happen to you
She could beat the whole county in a foosball game
But you won't find her in the Hall of Fame
She just practiced to spend the time
Since having fun's not really a crime
She's got polaroids hanging out with Ozzy and Geddy Lee
I think she smoked pot with Rush, but that wouldn't be news to me

Bear Song

The bear in the cave keeps stealing my golf balls
And he won't give them back
I don't know how much more I can take this
At some point I'm gonna crack
I just wanted to tee off!
Didn't know it would end like this
Every time one goes near, his hand comes out
And drags it into the abyss
The bear in the cave keeps stealing my golf balls
And he won't give them back
I don't know if he has a vendetta or something
But I can't take this flak

High Velocity was a band that existed, but now it dubiously existed. Most of the stuff on this page is Jordan’s solo indie-pop stuff - you should listen!
